SENIOR ESTIMATOR - BUILDING CONTRACTOR​ - IRELAND

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is a leading Irish Building contractor working on
Commercial & Fit-Out, Civic, Education, Conservation & Restoration,
Healthcare, Pharma & Industrial, Tourism & Leisure, Residential
projects.

You will be reporting to the Estimating Director and joining a leading
Irish building main contractor committed to the highest standards of
safety, quality & sustainability with an earned reputation for
delivering outstanding quality projects.

You will have the opportunity to work in a leading role, for the
preparation of tender submissions for major construction projects.  

You will work as part of the tender bid team in conjunction with the
Technical and Project Coordination Departments to thoroughly
scrutinise project tender requirements, review scope, assessment of
costing requirements and analysis of data received in preparation of
tender costs submissions 

Review and assessment of tender documentation including interpreting
drawings, specifications, reports and general scope of works
requirements. 

Preparation of inhouse tender review presentations. 

Attend site visits to appraise new projects as part of the tender bid
process. 

Preparation of consultant, subcontractor and material packages for
pricing using latest estimating software. 

Review and preparation of consultant, subcontractor and materials cost
analysis for cost comparison purposes.  

Measurement of work as required in accordance with ARM 4 and
updates. 

Continuous management of tender documents. 

Preparation of tender queries and management of mid tender
clarifications / addendums. 

Preparation and pricing of tender documents. 

Identification of project risks, management and pricing of same.

Establish opportunities for alternatives and value engineering
proposals. 

Pricing and review of preliminaries for sign off. 

Completion and submission of tender in accordance with Instructions to
Tender. 

Correspondence with design team/tendering authority during and post
tender.

Preparation of project handover reports including collation of the
necessary and associated documentation. 

Liaising with Project QS and Construction Team to review pricing
strategies, quotes and budgets. 

Preparation and maintenance of estimating data for reports and tender
application. 

Assist the Bid Technical Manager in the preparation of tender
applications and works proposals. 

Assist in the preparation of cost plans, expression of interest and
presentations to clients and design teams.  

Build relations and maintaining same with existing and potential
clients and design teams. 

Continually review and improve tender bid procedures. 

REQUIREMENTS

Relevant diploma or degree level qualification in Quantity Surveying,
Engineering or Construction related discipline. 

7+ years experience Building Construction Estimating / Tendering with
main contractors

Good ability to read drawings, specification and reports with
capability to assess issues and risk.  

Clear and concise communicator with an aptitude for problem solving
and thinking outside the box. 

Capable of working on his/her own initiatives and as part of a team.

Able to work accurately and efficiently while managing owns time to
meet critical deadlines.  

Be proficient in word and excel and a knowledge of conquest a
plus.   

Hold a valid driving licence.
